Non-custodial mother and her 2 children go missing on West Side

Sept. 19--A 27-year-old woman took off Friday night with her two children without the permission of their guardians,who live in the city's Austin neighborhood, police said.

Police said Denise Runles, who is the biological mother of DeKaylah "KK" and Damarrion "Man-Man" Runles, took her children without permission about 9 p.m. from the first block of North Lotus Avenue. She failed to return with her 7-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son, police said.

Police believe the mother may have taken the children to the area of the 7600 block of South Kingston Avenue, or to a homeless shelter.

Her daughter DeKaylah was last seen wearing a white unicorn hooded sweater and blue jeans. Her son was last seen wearing a navy-blue sweater and blue jeans, police said.

Runles is described as a black woman with a medium complexion, black hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. Her daughter also has a medium complexion with brown eyes and black hair being worn in long braided extensions. She is about 3 feet tall and weighs 70 pounds. The girl has a red mark on her forehead and a mole on her right cheek, police said.

The 2-year-old boy is black with a medium complexion, black hair and brown eyes. He is about 2 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 50 pounds.
