Nominations still open for 2021 Nottinghamshire Live Women in Business Awards - and this is how to enter

Nominations are still open for the 2021 Nottinghamshire Live Women in Business Awards - celebrating the highest achievers among the city and county’s female business community.

People have until October 8 to nominate themselves or colleagues, friends or contacts from the local business scene.

Winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a glamorous event at Nottingham’s Crowne Plaza hotel on Wednesday, November 17.

This will be the first Women in Business Awards to be held in the county since before the first lockdown - and as ever they will recognise the best managers, entrepreneurs, directors, SME owners and young business leaders out there.

The awards are being hosted in partnership with headline sponsor Hillarys, a Nottingham business that has been supplying blinds, curtains and shutters for five decades.

The awards are also being run in association with Nottinghamshire Live’s sister publication BusinessLive. This year there are awards for:

- Apprentice of the Year

- Rising Star

- Sole Trader of the Year

- Women in Construction

- Inspirational Woman of the Year

- Women in Public Service

- New Business of the Year, sponsored by Eversheds Sutherland

- Women in Tech, sponsored by Browne Jacobson

- Entrepreneur of the Year

- Female Executive of the Year

- Small Business of the Year

During the last awards in 2019 the Businesswoman of the Year award was presented to Charlotte Cox, who was global brands director of Canterbury and is now president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa of parent company Pentland Brands.

Mrs Cox's work has involved leading a team in Nottingham in the development of kits for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, including the England team's kits, which created dozens of jobs.

The 2018 Businesswoman of the Year was Mary Hunter. She joined digital solutions group Columbus Global, in Annesley, in 1998 and during her time with the company its turnover increased from £2 million to £25 million.

In recognition of her work, the managing director was nominated in both the Inspirational Woman of the Year and Female Executive categories.

Nottinghamshire Live editor Natalie Fahy said now more than ever we should be celebrating our female captains of industry – from the CEOs and finance bosses of our top companies, to high-flying career accountants and lawyers, “mumpreneurs” and entrepreneurs, with the awards highlighting the achievements of a vast range of businesswomen from across the county.

Ms Fahy said: “Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are full of successful female businesswomen and through my job I am lucky enough to not just support them but also to work alongside them in all sorts of areas.

“Right now it is incredibly important to champion them as they have so much to offer the post-Covid recovery of our region.”
