Nolan Arenado, Christian Moore, Clarke Schmidt Headline June Spotlight Drop 3 in MLB The Show 25

The penultimate drop for the June Spotlight program will be arriving tomorrow in MLB The Show 25, and it promises to boast some pretty good cards that might be able to make it into your lineup from the rip.

Though many have criticized MLB The Show 25 in the past for locking its best cards into packs or collections that require opening packs, there has been a smattering of usable cards that the game has dropped for free. And if past experience is anything to go by, then the three cards that are supposed to drop as part of the June Spotlight Series will be no exception.

What Cards Will Be A Part Of June Spotlight Drop 3 In MLB The Show 25?

Ahead of June Spotlight Drop 3’s release, San Diego Studio has announced which cards will be headlining it. The players are Los Angeles Angels rookie second baseman Christian Moore, New York Yankees starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt, and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado.

Moore’s card will be a Topps Now, celebrating his first-ever MLB home run, a game-tying solo shot against the Houston Astros last week. Schmidt’s inclusion wasn’t so much because of his most recent start — in which he tossed 7 no-hit innings against the Baltimore Orioles — but more so what he’s done over his last several starts. In three straight starts, Schmidt threw the third-most consecutive scoreless innings whilst only giving up 6 hits over 20.2 innings.

Nolan Arenado is the headliner of the trio and gets the Spotlight Series card this week. This is due to the perennial All-Star becoming the 6th active player to hit 350 home runs.

The best part about these cards is that they will be completely free through the weekly Spotlight Series program and won’t be hidden behind a paywall (pack) this time. And honestly, these three cards should all be usable.

Christian Moore was previously given an 82-rated Pipeline card, one that I found to be really easy to hit with. He was pretty balanced across the board, possessing solid contact, power, fielding, and speed. Clarke Schmidt is also an extremely handy pitcher, possessing one of the best pitch mixes in the game in lieu of velocity. I expect his H/9 and control to be very good on that card.

Finally, Nolan Arenado is an MLB The Show legend and always plays. While I doubt he was much in the way of speed, I do expect him to have decent contact, high power, and very good fielding attributes at the hot corner. On top of that, he has a great swing. Unless you have Scott Rolen over at 3B, I’d highly suggest giving this card a shot once it drops.
