GREATER NOIDA: The Noida administration has notified the acquisition of land for a spur road linking Delhi-Mumbai expressway with the upcoming airport in Jewar. The link road will also lead to the DND and the Faridabad-Ballabgarh bypass.
On October 12, the National Highways Authority of India had asked the district administration to start work on acquiring private land chunks on its behalf.
Balram Singh, additional district magistrate (land acquisition), said 69.4 hectares would have to be acquired for the spur road. “We have got the list of private plots that will be needed to construct the spur road. The state government has asked us to expedite work on the acquisition process. People owning land and others have been given 21 days to file their objections or suggestions. The acquisition notification has been pasted on the Jewar tehsil building and published in newspapers,” he added.
After taking feedback, the district administration will start a survey and the measurement process. According to revenue department officials posted in the Jewar tehsil, only agricultural fields and barren land are being impacted by the project.
The overall length of the spur road will be 31.2km. It will be elevated and go over the Yamuna. A total of 8.1km of the stretch will fall in the Jewar tehsil. Land will be acquired in five villages — Dayanatpur, Falauda Bangar, Karauli Bangar and Rampur Bangar. An NHAI official said the spur road had been finalised under the Bharatmala scheme and was aimed at improving freight movement. Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of the Noida International Airport Limited, said a cargo terminal was being developed as part of the airport project. “Having a direct link to the Delhi-Mumbai expressway via Faridabad will be mutually rewarding for all the stakeholders in long run,” he added.
