City students found a reason to celebrate as they performed well in the class 10 examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were declared on Saturday.
Thousands of students across several CBSE-affiliated schools in the district appeared in the school-based and CBSE-based exams this year. A total of 7,81,463 students appeared for the school-based exam and 8,86,506 students appeared for CBSE-based exam across the country.
A candidate’s result in the class 10 exams is calculated using the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system. A CGPA of 10 indicates that a student scored between 91% and 100% in all five subjects.
In Amity International School in Noida’s Sector 44, a total of 453 students had appeared for the exam, out of which 339 students — an overwhelming 78.4% — managed to score a CGPA of 10. The school’s average CGPA was 9.89. Moreover, six Amity students from economically weaker backgrounds also scored CGPA above 9.4.
“I am so excited that I scored a perfect 10 CGPA. I want to continue my education at Amity School itself,” said Neetu Jha, a student of Amitasha, an initiative by Amity group for students from economically weaker backgrounds.
Similarly, students from Delhi Public School in Noida’s Sector 30, also performed well. A total of 307 students had appeared for the exams, out of which 116 students — or 37.7% — received a CGPA of 10. The school’s average CGPA was 9.2. A differently abled student, Sneha Geri, also scored a CGPA of 9.2.
Rohan Chopra, a DPS student who scored a CGPA of 10, said, “I want to become an investment banker and will pursue commerce in classes 11 and 12 from DPS.”
“I want to pursue acting as a career and my dream is to enrol in National School of Drama, Delhi. I will opt for commerce in classes 11 and 12,” said Aryan Sharma, another DPS student who scored a CGPA of 10.
In Father Agnel School in Greater Noida, of the 93 students who appeared for the exams, 16 scored 10 in their CGPA.
In Ryan International School, Sector 39, a total of 21 out of 150 students who took the exams scored 10.
“Full credit goes to the teachers and management who have prepared the syllabus in a manner that is in sync with CBSE guidelines. Apart from academics, our school has also excelled in co-curricular activities too,” said Renu Singh, principal, Amity International School.
