Noida: Soon, a park to showcase 7 wonders from recycled waste

NOIDA: The state’s first ‘World of Wonders Park’ will be built in Noida. Apart from replicas of the seven wonders, the park will have statues of wild animals, officials have said.

The park will be built across 20 acres under the Mahamaya flyover at a cost of Rs 20 crore. A proposal, officials said, is likely to be placed in the upcoming board meeting of the Noida Authority. At present, its design is being prepared by a consultant.

Officials said the plan is to install replicas of the seven wonders of the world with the help of waste. Earlier Taj Mahal, Buddhist Stupa and Gandhi's Charkha were made out of waste and kept in the green belts built along the expressway.

“The waste, which is being collected by the Authority, will be put to use to make the replicas,” said Authority OSD Indu Prakash Singh. Also statues of animals would be put on display apart from information about them. There are also plans to develop an amusement park and other leisure facilities for children, according to officials. “Following an approval from the board, tenders would be floated for the project,” the OSD said. The project will be developed on a public-private partnership model and entry tickets are being considered. “A similar park was inaugurated in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan in 2019, wherein wonders of the world were built with about 150 tonnes of junk from factories and industries, bottles and parts of vehicles,” another official said. Sources said that the same private firm has given a proposal to the Noida Authority to develop such a park here as well. Earlier this month, Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari directed officials to prepare a plan and submit it before the board.
