NOIDA: On Saturday, GB Nagar reported 141 Covid cases, a dip from 211 cases on the previous day. The active cases also declined to 1,049 on Saturday from 1,122 on Friday. Less than 20 patients are admitted to the hospitals.
In the neighboring Ghaziabad, the daily Covid cases have come down significantly in the last 24 hours to 48 from 72 cases on Friday. The district has 599 active cases currently, out of which 13 patients are hospitalised.
Ghaziabad has been testing 3,000-3,500 samples every day with a positivity rate of 1.46% on Saturday, while GB Nagar is testing 2,500 samples daily with a positivity rate of 5.64% on Saturday.
Other than GB Nagar and Ghaziabad, Lucknow as well as Varanasi have reported the most cases on Saturday with 97 and 31 cases, respectively. Across 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, 616 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours with 5,632 active cases.
The doctors attending the patients in the outdoor patient departments of private and government hospitals have said that people with comorbidities need to be extra cautious.
The sudden change in temperatures during the monsoon has caused a spur in cases of viral fever in the last few days, they said.
In the month of August so far, Ghaziabad has already tested 40,305 samples.
In terms of vaccination, Ghaziabad administered 9,255 doses while 3,605 people got vaccinated in GB Nagar on saturday.
