Noida: One dies in accident on Yamuna Expressway

The police said that one person died in an accident involving a truck and a dumper on Yamuna Expressway in the wee hours of Saturday.

According to police, the accident took place around 4am on Saturday, when a speeding dumper crashed into a stationary truck near Gautam Budh University on Yamuna Expressway.

The police said that the truck driver, who was standing at the rear of his truck and checking for problems after his vehicle broke down on the expressway, was killed on the spot.

The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Chandrapal Singh, of Aligarh.

Aanand Dev Mishra, the station house officer of Ecotech-1 police station, said, “Singh was returning to Aligarh and had stopped on the road to fix some problem in his truck. He was standing at the rear of the vehicle looking for the problem in his vehicle when a speeding dumper rammed it. Singh could not see the vehicle coming in his direction and was crushed in the incident.”

Mishra said, “The dumper was also badly damaged. The occupants of the dumper must have also got injured in the incident, but the police who reached the spot did not find anyone there. The driver of the dumper fled the spot after the accident. The dumper has the registration number of Haryana. We are in the process of tracing the driver and owner of the dumper.”

The police said that after a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to his family. A case has been lodged into the incident and the issue is being investigated further.
