Noida: One booked for uploading obscene pictures of woman on Facebook

NOIDA: A man has been accused of uploading obscene pictures and videos of a software engineer on Facebook after she stopped responding to his calls, the Noida police said on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Santosh Singh from Bihar, they said.

The victim’s husband, an architect, submitted the complaint to DCP (women’s safety) after which a preliminary inquiry was conducted. He told the police that Singh first contacted his wife in March.

ACP-2 (Central Noida) Yogendra Singh said according to a preliminary probe by the cyber cell, the Facebook ID, IP address and mobile number have fake credentials.

The architect informed the police that in the first week of April, he had contracted Covid due to which he could not visit the police station but gave all information regarding the incident to the officers over the phone.

A few days later, he went to his native place in Gorakhpur. He then sent mailed a complaint to the police commissioner following which an FIR was lodged on June 28 in Bisrakh police station. The police said they suspect a “revenge angle” and a probe is on.
