Noel Gallagher has taken an unprecedented swipe at music legends ABBA to blast them for sending holograms out on tour instead of doing it themselves.
The 54-year-old Oasis legend appears to have no issue taking aim at the iconic Swedish group – consisting of 71-year-old Agnetha Fältskog, 76-year-old Anni-Frid Lyngstad, 75-year-old Benny Andersson and 76-year-old Björn Ulvaeus.
Last year the prayers of ABBA fans were finally answered as they released their first album in 40 years – with the chart topping record Voyage.
Further excitement was ignited when the Super Trooper singers announced a tour would also be launched in support of the album – but some were disappointed that the band themselves would not be taking to the stage and rather holographic avatars of them in their ‘70s glory would ‘perform’ instead.
Noel sounds like he is in the camp of people who are unimpressed that the band aren’t hitting the road physically themselves, and grumbled to The Sun on Sunday: “I would not consider gigs with me as a hologram. No, there would have to be an audience involved.
“You need a crowd in front of you. It’s a human interaction, and if you don’t have that it is meaningless.”
The star did, however, admit he would not want to be performing on stage himself when he reaches his mid-70s.
He said: “Do I want to live another 50 years? No. Just think how s**t the world is now. I would rather not live through it. At 75 I want to go.
“My plan for the next ten years is to make three great albums.”
Meanwhile it’s not just ABBA that Noel is taking issue with – as he also rounded on the Labour Party in another recent outburst.
The Don’t Look Back In Anger singer is unimpressed by the way the political group have failed to offer a decent alternative to the current Conservative government.
He raged on The Matt Morgan podcast: "I f***ing hate the Labour Party, they're a f***ing disgrace. What they've become now, a disgrace.
"They've betrayed the working classes, they've betrayed ordinary people and they've allowed this shower to run the country for however long they've f***ing run the country."
Noel even teased the possibility of running for power himself.
He added: "They are not capable of running an after-show party. I should start a new party called the After Show Party, it would be great."
