Noel Gallagher reveals stadium he's most looking forward to Oasis playing

Oasis have already played the national stadiums in Wales and England this summer, kicking off their comeback tour at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium before going on to perform to crowds over five nights at Wembley Stadium.

The band will return to London for a further two nights, on 27 and 28 September – following in the footsteps of Coldplay, who begin their 10 nights at Wembley tonight.

However, there’s one venue guitarist and singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher says he’s looking forward to playing.

He revealed his answer on TalkSport’s Drive programme: "The River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires in November.

"It's the second last show and we've played there a couple of times.”

Oasis previously played the Buenos Aires football stadium in May 2009, mere months before the band broke up, and it clearly held a lasting impression.

"The Argentinians are without doubt in the top five places for us to play in the world and it's the furthest away from Ireland and Manchester.

"Everybody is looking forward to River Plate because it's a special, special, special place for us."

The last time out at the 85,000-capacity football stadium was part of the band’s 2009 South American tour, the third time Oasis visited Argentina.

The current tour’s next stop is in North America this weekend. The band’s return to Wembley in September marks the final domestic shows planned, with the tour going on to Asia, Australia and South America, where it concludes.

The Gallaghers have not always been the most complimentary about Wembley, with frontman Liam quipping in 2000 that it was “about time” the old stadium was torn down – months before the rebuild began.

The Manchester City-supporting brothers also took the opportunity at this year’s performances to goad Arsenal fans.

The success of the Oasis Live ‘25 reunion tour has sparked rumours of further shows being organised next year, including a massive Knebworth Park return. However, no official comment has been made.
