Noel Gallagher praises 'amazing' Newcastle crowd at This Is Tomorrow gig

Noel Gallagher branded his High Flying Birds "the best karaoke band ever" as he brought the second day of This Is Tomorrow to a successful - and safe - end.

The quip - moments before a huge sing-a-long of Stop Crying Your Heart Out - came after thousands of Noel-mad Geordies drowned out the Oasis legend's voice during his 90-minute set.

And thankfully there were none of the hiccups which blighted the first night of the inaugural Exhibtion Park festival.

Friday's headliner Foals tweeted they were "gutted" after organisers cut their set short due to safety concerns over the barrier.

But after organisers vowed to ensure there would be no repeat on Saturday , the day went without any reported hiccups.

And loud fans sang every word as they were treated to renditions of Oasis classics 'Wonderwall', 'Talk Tonight' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger'.

The band finished with Beatles classic 'All You Need is Love' moments after praising the "amazing" Newcastle crowd.

And it wasn't just those who paid to be there who seemed to enjoy it.

On Facebook, residents claimed they could hear the show as far as SEVEN miles away.

The Stereophonics top tomorrow's bill, which also features Lewis Capaldi.
