Noel Gallagher keeps backtracking about Liverpool and Man City

Liverpool have forced a complete U-turn from Man City fan Noel Gallagher after the Oasis icon conceded that the Reds are likely to retain their Premier League title this season.

Gallagher appeared on Sky Sports programme Soccer AM alongside Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher on Boxing Day where he discussed a variety of topics.

One of those topics was who would win the Premier League title.

When asked by Soccer AM presenter 'Fenners' who would win the league, Gallagher looked at Carragher and said: "This one [while looking at Carragher] - Liverpool.

"I think we would have seen signs by now if they weren't going to win it."

Gallagher appears to have changed his tune after previously claiming in 2019 that City would win the league every year as long as Pep Guardiola was in charge.

Back in 2019, he said : "I think [ Man City will] win four [trophies this season, 2019/20]. I can’t see anybody getting anywhere near us next season.

“Liverpool had the greatest season in their entire life… and they still came second. It’s too funny!

“I don’t think Liverpool get near us. I don’t think anybody does.

"I think as long as Guardiola stays, we’ll win the league every year."

Liverpool, of course, went on to win the Premier League that season, while City only picked up the Carabao Cup, beating Aston Villa in the final.

And Gallagher has not been impressed, either, with Man City's form this season.

"It's been all over the place really. After the game against Leicester, it was a massive shock," Gallagher added.

"Getting beat at home by five and then well, the whole season with COVID, and the way last season ended and then all the games being staggered."

Guardiola's side face Newcastle United at 8pm UK time this evening.
