Noel Gallagher fumes over mundane supermarket shopping trip frustrations

Noel Gallagher wants everyone to know he lives as boring a life as the rest of us – complete with housework and trips to the supermarket.

The 53-year-old Oasis star says he gets frustrated at his local Tesco when fans approach him and express their shock that he’s out picking up food and groceries.

Noel says he gets annoyed when he is quizzed by the public over his trips to the supermarket, and hates being asked what he is doing there while he is filling up his basket.

The star – who is said to earn an estimated £5.4 million per year in Oasis royalties alone – claims he would never fork out for staff to do his shopping for him.

He huffed to Matt Morgan on his Funny How? podcast: “I still get asked on a daily basis, in the supermarket, ‘What are you doing in here?’

“As I’ve got a selection of items in a basket, ‘What are you doing in here?’

“People think that famous people have butlers and all the women are like Joan Collins and all the rock stars are like Mick Jagger, it’s not like that.

“I still queue up to get in Tesco Metro . . . I have just a normal life, but an extraordinary job. I wouldn’t have anybody doing shopping for me.”

Noel also declared he never shies away from boring house chores either.

He said: “If my room needs hoovering, I’ll hoover it.

“I don’t like relying on too many other people for anything.”

While Noel and his brother Liam have a fraught relationship, the pair have worked together on a new documentary to mark 25 years since their iconic 1996 Knebworth Concert.

Announcing the news on Instagram this week, Noel wrote: “The Knebworth concert film, directed by Jake Scott, will be released later this year to mark 25 years since the events.”
