Noel Gallagher can't wait for wild summer and compares it to Roaring Twenties

Police fear a summer of drug-fuelled mayhem as party-goers go wild... and Noel Gallagher reckons it’s “the first bit of good news” he’s heard all year.

The Oasis rocker, famed for years of hedonistic exploits, believes this is the clearest sign yet lockdown restrictions are, finally, coming to an end.

He says: “If someone’s preparing for a summer full of drug-fuelled mayhem, you know things are on the up. I’m going to get stuck into s***loads of it.

“Police are saying, ‘We know everyone’s going to be out in the summer, and we’re prepared for everyone to be absolutely [censored] all summer, and just causing trouble’.

“This is brilliant. It’ll be like the Roaring Twenties when it got going – people went mad!”

Noel, no doubt with his tongue firmly in cheek, was referring to reports this summer will see a surge of drug-taking, as socially isolated young adults return to festivals and parties.

Despite police concerns, Noel cheerfully describes it as a “feelgood story”.

Speaking to pal Matt Morgan’s podcast, he jokes: “If you’ve been in lockdown for a year and then went to a festival, imagine how p*ssed you would get in your twenties?”

But he says has a “little beer belly” from drinking at home every night during lockdown.

Some of us might need a summer of sobriety when this is all over...
