Noel Gallagher aims dig at Jamie Carragher but Liverpool fans hit back after Man City defeat

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher aimed a dig at Oasis star Noel Gallagher last night - and so did plenty of Reds fans after the final whistle.

Carragher was speaking to Gallagher ahead of the Champions League final on Saturday night, which Man City lost 1-0 to Chelsea.

Gallagher was in Porto at the Estadio do Dragao, and was taking part in some pre-match media duties with CBS Sports.

The game also coincided with Gallagher’s birthday, and Carragher decided to sing him a song of Liverpool’s famous anthem.

"I just want to sing you a song, Noel, to celebrate as you were last night," said the former Reds centre-back.

Carragher then launched into a rendition of his former club's famous anthem, You'll Never Walk Alone, singing: "When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high..."

At this point, Gallagher interrupted to say: "Hey mate, mate, mate, that was worse than one of your own goals!"

Gallagher then left to be interviewed by BT Sport, and the singer went on to say how he would find it difficult if Chelsea beat Man City.

"It could be one of the greatest ever (birthdays), but then again, I could skip 54 and when I look back on it, I’ll go from 53 to 55. It’s our first final, I’m bricking it.

"It’s an all-England final, I’m quite recognisable, I live in London, the abuse I’m going to get from taxi drivers will be relentless if we lose. I’m not feeling great."

Chelsea did of course end up beating Man City in Portugal, as Gallagher watched Kai Havertz net the only goal of the contest.

And fans were relentless on social media as they sent messages to both Gallagher brothers after the match:
