Noel and Liam Gallagher 'set sights on Oscars success' with 'dynamite' Oasis reunion film

Oasis are reportedly eyeing up the biggest awards in film as plans emerge for a feature-length documentary capturing their headline-making reunion.

The ambitious project, which charts Noel and Liam Gallagher’s long-awaited return to the stage after almost 20 years, is allegedly being positioned for an Oscar and BAFTA run.

The film would need to be released by March 2026 to qualify for the 2027 awards season, with the studio reportedly confident it has the makings of a major contender.

The documentary is said to chart not only the band’s blockbuster comeback shows, which began in the UK before moving across Australia and the US, but also the fraught behind-the-scenes journey that led the famously feuding brothers to bury the hatchet.

A source described the footage as “dynamite”, telling The Sun: “This film has captured music history and the footage is incredible. The drama off stage, covering the steps that began their reunion, are as good as any Hollywood blockbuster.

“It really is dynamite. The brothers are opening up in a way we have never seen before. It will be very emotional for not only them to look back on, but fans, too.

“The studio is now reviewing what steps they have to take for the movie to be entered into these major awards.”

The Standard has contacted Oasis’ representatives for comment.

The renewed frenzy around Oasis comes as a piece of the band’s history fetched a staggering sum at auction last week.

The cherry-red 1960s Gibson ES-355 guitar Noel Gallagher claimed Liam smashed “like an axe” during their final row in Paris in 2009 sold for £289,800 at a Propstore auction in London.

The infamous bust-up backstage at Rock en Seine brought the group to an abrupt end, leading to the cancellation of the show and the remainder of their tour.

Announcing his departure at the time, Noel said: “It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.

“People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Days later, in a further statement titled Tales From the Middle of Nowhere, he added: “The details are not important and of too great a number to list.

“But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable.

“And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.”

The restored guitar was one of over 400 items auctioned, alongside memorabilia linked to The Beatles, ABBA, KISS, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson and John Lennon.
