Kochia plants are lit up in various hues at Hitachi Seaside Park in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki Prefecture, in the Kochia Light Up festival. About 32,000 plants, each nurtured into a spherical shape, are illuminated during the event. Visitors enjoyed a mesmerizing atmosphere as the colors of the lights changed along with music, turning the plants blue, yellow and pink. The festival is held from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and runs through Aug. 26.
