'Nobody showed up to my wedding - I burst into tears before saying my vows'

When it comes to weddings, most brides worry about tripping up when walking down the aisle or another woman showing up in white. But one woman was left heartbroken after "hardly anyone" showed up to her big day, leaving her teary eyed as she walked down the aisle toward her husband.

She explained how she invited 70 people and their plus ones to celebrate her wedding day - but only 30 bothered to show up even after almost all of them RSVP'd 'Yes' to come. She said: "Two days after my wedding and I still can't get over how few people came to my own wedding, especially the friends and family who were talking about it up until the day before.

"Only about four of the people who didn't show RSVP'd that they weren't. Everyone else went on and on about how excited they were, who they were bringing, what they were wearing.

"I was so happy that people actually cared enough about me to come to something that I worked so hard and spent so much to put together."

She couldn't believe how so many of her so-called friends could "humiliate" her like this - saying her husband's father also didn't even show his face.

"I'm still so humiliated and upset. I tried so hard not to cry after stressing so much on making everything perfect. I ended up breaking down right before I had to walk," she added on Reddit.

While she is happy she married the love of her life, she "just can't get over how hurt" she feels due to the lack of support her other loved ones showed her.

She said: "I did eventually have a lot of fun with the people who did show up.

"The rest haven't even called to explain why they RSVP'd just to not show up. I think I would have been less upset had I been given an advance - at least then I'd be prepared."

Sharing a thought for the bride, one user said: "I'd be upset too! how rude and inconsiderate of them. Call me harsh, but I'd definitely stop being their friend."

Another user added: "I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how hurtful that must be.

"I know that people always have no-shows at weddings, but I just can't wrap my head around it.

"Even if you've never planned a wedding, surely you must know what a big deal that is, to just bail on an expensive event like that?

"I hope you felt the love from the people who were there. In a lot of ways, a wedding that intimate sounds really nice.

A third user said: "At the end of the day you married the person you wanted to marry.

"I know it's hard, weddings are suppose to be a family celebration, but don't let it bring you down.

"Enjoy your new life and live it to the fullest."
