Nobody knew who Alan Johnson was on The Masked Singer

ITV's The Masked Singer has revealed its second contestant but no one seems to know who he is.

Former home secretary Alan Johnson was unmasked after failing to impress the judges in the singing show.

The ex-Labour MP had to reveal his face, lifting his Pharaoh mask after he belted out a rendition of The Bangles hit Walk Like An Egyptian.

Panellist Jonathan Ross had to apologise to Alan after guessing that he was Ann Widdecombe - but the former politician joked it was "cross party".

There was a huge divide between those The Masked Singer viewers who recognised the former MP, who was wearing a golden costume, complete with giant Pharaoh mask, and those who had no idea who he is.

Viewers have been divided into two camps; those who know Alan Johnson and those who've never heard of him (ITV)

There were some big clues given during the VT that linked back to Alan.

"I saw the Queen on a daily basis," was a reference to his former job as a postman.

And the claim that his previous employment was as a piece of furniture was because he used to be in the cabinet.

TV presenter Davina McCall, chat show king Jonathan Ross, singer Rita Ora and The Hangover actor Ken Jeong were stunned by the reveal.

And viewers seem convinced that popstar judge Rita Ora also had no clue as to who the politician is.
