Noah Potter, Steele Chambers become latest Buckeyes to lose black stripe

Ohio State has shed the black of stripe off two more four-star recruits.

The first was Noah Potter. The ninth-best player from Ohio in the class of 2019, Potter will have to fight for snaps in his rookie season. He’ll be competing with senior Jonathon Cooper along with a host of others to break into a deep and talented rotation on the defensive line.

However, at Ohio State, everything is earned. If Potter can continue to impress, there’s potential to see time. A physical beast at 6-foot-6, 250 pounds, Potter will be a force if he continues to grind in practice.

The second player this week to get their stripe off is Steele Chambers. Chambers is another four-star recruit who is seemingly going to lock in as a running back.

Chambers and a few other running backs will be gunning for junior JK Dobbins’ spot. Shedding that stripe is a good start for the 26th-best player from Geogia but it’ll no doubt be an uphill climb to get much playing time his freshman year.

The Buckeyes have high expectations for Potter and Chambers. Let’s hope they can continue to impress as the season commences in just a few weeks.
