Noah Fant breaks Broncos’ receptions record for rookie tight ends

Denver Broncos rookie tight end Noah Fant had a big day against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, catching three passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. A majority of those yards came on a 75-yard score.

Fant (6-4, 249 pounds) was selected by Denver in the first round of April’s draft out or Iowa. His 115 receiving yards on Sunday were the most by a Broncos tight end since Julius Thomas totaled 122 yards in a game in 2013.

Fant has now caught 23 passes this year, breaking the record for the most receptions by a rookie tight end in franchise history. The previous record was set by Orson Mobley (22 catches) in 1986.

Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe caught just seven passes as a rookie in 1990 and totaled 22 catches during his second season in 1991. Fant is on pace for a 40-catch, 533-yard season with three or four touchdown catches.

After a slow start to begin the year, Fant is starting to heat up.
