Noah Donohoe to be be remembered with Lagan Valley Island illumination

A third council will join a mother's campaign for truth over the death of her teenage son.

Lisburn and Castlereagh Council will light up Lagan Valley Island in blue on Sunday in support of the Donohoe's family's appeal for answers.

Noah Donohoe disappeared from North Belfast in June, and his body was later found in a storm drain.

Belfast City Hall, and The Tinnies sculpture in his mother Fiona's home town of Strabane, will also be lit up in the 14-year-old's memory.

LCCC Alderman Paul Porter said: "We feel it is important as a local authority to show support for a grieving mother."

The DUP elected rep added: "Noah’s mum is appealing for anyone with information to come forward and help his family understand what happened to him.

"I would ask anyone that can help to please contact the relevant authorities."

Alliance councillor David Honeyford, who approached the Corporate Services Committee to join the campaign, said he hoped the family would get answers quickly.

He added: "I can’t imagine the pain and grief of losing a child, and hope lighting up our civic building in a small way will help the campaign to raise awareness around the ongoing appeal for information surrounding young Noah’s untimely death."
