Noah Donohoe: 'Significant' operation ongoing in select areas of Belfast in search for missing teenager

Enquires into the disappearance of teenager Noah Donohoe are ongoing after the recovery of his backpack and laptop.

Police continue to frantically search for the missing 14-year-old, who was last seen on Sunday night.

PSNI officers are now trying to figure out how the laptop and bag came to be at the location where they were discovered.

But Supt Muir Clark said: "We do not believe that at this stage, the current find is related to Noah going missing."

The most recent update from PSNI indicated that they are looking at a number of hypotheses and lines of enquiry, Belfast Live reports.

They believe that Noah fell off his bicycle and may have suffered some form of trauma and is either disorientated or incapacitated.

"Our main area of search continues to be in the area of Shore Road bounded by Premier Drive and Skegoniel Avenue," Supt Clark said.

"There is significant work ongoing, including clearing vegetation in that area so that we can thoroughly check it again.

"I would also appeal to householders in the area [above] - can you please again check your outbuildings, shrubbery, any areas of your garden or premises that Noah might possibly be in. That is the key bit of our investigation at the moment. But we don't rule anything out."

The reason behind why Noah set off on his journey, carrying a large rucksack, from his South Belfast home to North Belfast on Sunday remains unclear.

Supt Clark said that question forms part of the enquiry.

"Now that we have recovered electronic equipment that Noah had with him on that day hopefully that will lead us to the right answers," he added.

"There are specialist officers who are currently examining all the electronic equipment.

"We have information that shows that Noah has discarded some clothing and we also know that he was seen riding his bicycle completely naked.

"The family have been extremely helpful through this exceptionally difficult and distressing time. They have been highly cooperative but as to why Noah was in that particular area of North Belfast, that is still unclear to both the family and us.

"It [the backpack] was a significant part of evidence that we were looking for because it contained the laptop. So along with the other devices that we have, that will form a major line of enquiry now as to where Noah possibly is or if Noah was going to see someone, who that was.

"A number of people have let us check their homes in that local area and we are very grateful for that.

"We do not understand why Noah was in that part of North Belfast. He obviously went to school in North Belfast but specifically as to why he was in the Northwood Road, that still remains unclear."

Noah's last known movements:

  • Noah left his home in South Belfast on Sunday June 21 around 5.30pm
  • He was then seen on Ormeau Avenue at 5.45pm on Sunday evening
  • He is then sighted again on Royal Avenue heading towards York Street a short time after
  • Noah was then seen on North Queen Street heading towards the Limestone Road at 5.57pm
  • An eyewitness believes they saw a young male matching Noah's description fall off his bicycle on Sunday evening, possibly sustaining a head injury, in the vicinity of North Queen Street/ York Street. The specific time is unknown
  • PSNI believe Noah got back on his bicycle, cycling into Northwood Road where he then abandons all his clothing, as he is seen a short time later cycling while naked
  • They also believe he then dropped his bicycle and left the area on foot
  • There have been no further confirmed sightings of Noah since 6.11pm on Sunday
