Noah Caluori is set to miss the start of next season after revealing that he played most of his breakthrough campaign with a wrist injury.
The 19-year-old Saracens wing topped the Prem Rugby try-scoring charts with 18 tries, earning a senior international debut for England against Fiji and featuring again against Argentina.
The teenage sensation now faces a spell on the sidelines, though, having undergone surgery on an issue he had played with for eight months.
Having delayed surgery until the end of the season, Caluori is now a doubt for the start of the new Prem campaign, which begins on 26 September.
“Surgery done,” Caluori posted on Instagram. “Been playing with this injury for eight months now. Gonna be working hard to get back stronger than before.”
Caluori featured off the bench against Argentina, helping to prevent Bautista Delguy from scoring a potentially tying try with a cover tackle deemed legal by the officials. The wing had scored on debut against Fiji.
