Noa Lang sends message to Crysencio Summerville after Leeds United prodigy's Premier League bow

Leeds United prodigy Crysencio Summerville has been praised by Club Brugge winger Noa Lang, a player heavily linked with a move to Elland Road over the summer.

Summerville was handed his first-team debut for the Whites on Friday, entering the fray as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.

His debut followed weeks of anticipation, built by several appearances on the first-team bench, and supporters expressed their excitement at seeing him in senior action both inside St James' Park and on social media.

Lang was heavily linked with a move to Elland Road over the summer but a deal never materialised and the Whites eventually bolstered their wide options with the signing of Daniel James.

Summerville posted a lengthy statement on social media after his first Premier League outing and Lang was one of several players to comment and offer a warm sentiment.

'Best is yet to come broertje,' Lang posted.

Summerville and Lang both represent the Netherlands at youth level, and although they are separated by three years, were both playing in Feyenoord's youth ranks at the same time.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa named a youthful bench at St James' Park, using several prospects from the under-23 side due to a raft of first-team absences.

Although the Whites have made a slow start to the season, the swift development of many of the club's young prospects has provided reason for optimism.

There was expectation amongst sections of the fanbase that centre-back Charlie Cresswell would be given a Premier League debut against Newcastle, and there are also high hopes for the likes of Nohan Kenneh, Stuart McKinstry and Sam Greenwood, all of which featured on the bench on Friday.

Reliance upon young players is likely to continue, with absences plaguing the squad and depriving Bielsa of options in several positions.

Leeds will visit Championship side Fulham on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup, a fixture that may provide Summerville with another opportunity to impress in the first-team.
