'No, to the brights' – Claudia Winkleman says you should 'run' from this bedroom color palette, and experts are inclined to agree with her

Claudia winkleman.

What is the best bedding color for sleep and relaxation? Some people would say there isn't a right answer, but Claudia Winkleman definitely believes there is.

The broadcaster shared her take on bedroom colors from her London townhouse in a conversation with luxury mattress retailer Vispring. In her 'Sleep Secrets' video, the Traitors host was mostly ambivalent, until it came to the best tones for her sleep space.

When asked if she preferred muted tones and neutral pastels or vibrant brights, Claudia's reaction was visceral.

She replied emphatically, 'NO, to the brights. You have to run. I don't care how amazing he or she is. They take you back to their flat. They go: "Should we move to the bedroom?" You go in, there are bright colors? Mm-m. Mm-m. You pivot. You leave.' It's safe to say she prefers a neutral bedroom.

Recreate Claudia's Neutral Look at Home

When it comes to decorating your bedroom, the color of your bedding has as much of an impact as the wall color and lighting. These pieces are our editors' picks for bringing in warmth and coziness with a neutral scheme.

With bedding trends moving towards bolder, more statement bedroom designs, we were curious what the experts had to say about her take.

Carlin van Noppen, interior designer at luxury bedding boutique, Fig Linens and Home states: 'There is definitely some science behind the idea that neutral bedding and colors in the bedroom are a good idea for sleep. Although it shouldn't dissuade you from trying a color you really love, light tones have calming properties that can aid in relaxation.'

What's the best way to decorate with neutrals in the bedroom? Carlin continues: 'If you are opting for a neutral scheme, it is important to incorporate lots of texture to keep the look interesting and prevent the room from becoming too flat. Neutral never needs to look boring.'

Swathing your bedroom in neutrals is a cozy, relaxing, and apparently, Claudia-Winkleman-approved way to decorate. It's evidence that no matter how the trends change, sticking to your own design opinions will always pay off.
