'No Thomas, no Partey!' - Arsenal's £45m signing delights fans with Instagram message

Thomas Partey has thanked Arsenal fans for his warm welcome to the club, and says he cannot wait to make his mark following a £45million transfer deadline day move.

Partey, 27, joined Arsenal late on deadline day after the Gunners activated his £45m release clause at Atletico Madrid, and will wear the No.18 shirt at the Emirates.

The 27-year-old Ghanaian represented the LaLiga club 188 times, helping them win the Europa League and Super Cup two years ago.

Partey is currently on international duty with Ghana before he makes his way to London, and could be an option for Mikel Arteta in the Gunners' first match back against Manchester City on October 17.

Speaking to Arsenal fans via the club's Instagram account, Partey said: "Hello Gunners! Thanks so much for the love, for the messages I've received.

"I can't wait to be part of you guys, I can't wait to join the team. It's a great feeling to be part of a family like this.

"Thanks so much to everyone for the love, I feel so grateful and I feel so amazed to be part of you.

"I can't wait to join you guys. And don't forget: no Thomas, no Partey!"

Arteta is expecting big things from Partey, saying: "We have been watching Thomas for a while, so we're now delighted to add such a high-quality player to our squad.

"He is a dynamic midfielder with great energy. He brings a lot of experience from a top club that has competed at the highest level in LaLiga and the Champions League for several years.

"We're very impressed with his attitude and his approach to the game.

"He's an intelligent footballer and we're looking forward to him integrating into our system and contributing to the progress we're building at the moment at the club."
