Nuno Espirito Santo didn’t show much sympathy for under-pressure counterpart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Tottenham.
Solskjaer takes his side to North London in need of a morale-boosting win, with the pressure having been ramped up on the United boss following last week’s 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool.
He won’t be the only one facing questions over his position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday though.
Nuno also faces intense scrutiny as Spurs boss, having made a less-than-convincing start to the season after being appointed during the summer.
His side sit a point ahead of United ahead of Saturday’s game, providing an added incentive for both managers as they look for a spark to ignite their seasons.
And, while other managers have offered their sympathies for the two under-pressure bosses, Nuno wasn’t prepared to offer his opposite number any more.
Asked about United’s defeat to Liverpool, Nuno said: “That shows that the competition is very tough, all the teams are very good.
“Man United is a fantastic team that we have to face tomorrow, and that is what we are concerned about, the match tomorrow.”
Asked about Solskjaer, Nuno simply added: “There’s no manager in the world that is not under pressure, that’s part of our job.”
Part of Spurs’ struggles so far this season has been down to Harry Kane’s form, with the England captain not hitting his usual standards after missing out on a move to Manchester City during the summer.
Nuno though is hoping he, and his team-mates, can rediscover some of their best form against United.
“It’s a good chance for everybody to do a good game. We are improving some aspects of our game, we are having setbacks in other aspects of our game, but the next match is always a good chance for us to keep building on the things we should improve.”
