Canberrans are being encouraged to head to the snow this weekend to take advantage of low rates and deep snow.
With mass cancellations caused by the Greater Sydney COVID-19 lockdown, accommodation providers, ski hires and even babysitters are slashing prices.
Troldhaugen Lodge at Jindabyne, which is rated as "exceptional" by Booking.com, is offering 50 per cent off all rooms.
Before lockdown, the hotel was booked out until September.
"[Now we are] struggling to fill rooms even though we are the highest-ranked hotel in town - plus we offer full refunds for Covid cancellations," owner Claire Hanley said.
The already pure snow is even more pure with Sydneysiders forced to stay at home.
"With Sydneysiders locked out there has never been a better time to visit the ski fields. No lift queues, no traffic, no one on the slopes and cut-price accommodation," Ms Handley said.
"This is our peak time. Once the snow goes, the crowds go. But it's not just the accommodation providers that need support now. It's all the support businesses - the ski hire shops, cafes and restaurants, laundry-hire services, food services.
"And we all want people who normally wouldn't be in a position to visit the Snowy Mountains during the peak time to take this opportunity and make the most of it. Come down and enjoy the mountains. Take a skiing or snowboard lesson, eat great food and try our local breweries and distilleries."
Thredbo is offering a "30% Ski and Save" deal, which includes a nights accommodation, two adult lift passes, parking and daily breakfast.
The lockdown is having a devastating impact on the entire snow region.
Jindabyne-based Base Ski Hire is offering 20 per cent off all equipment hire, as the business works hard to stay afloat.
Winter is usually the peak period for tourism operations up in the mountains.
"If the lockdown extends past the 16th, then we will again have another round of cancellations and refunds," owner Jason Lambert said.
"Sydney, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and [the] Central Coast provides 80 to 85 per cent of [our] client base in the snow season."
Lindy Afonso from Billy Button Babysitting is even proffering cheaper rates for parents who want to hit the slopes, but can't get their kids into lessons.
"Due to there being a severe shortage here in the region of skilled workers for this industry, it's been particularly hard for families travelling to the region to secure childcare," she said.
"We offer an affordable childcare alternative in the comfort of holiday accommodation, while parents enjoy a day on the mountain."
As well as cheap rates, heavy snowfall forecast for the weekend may also entice ACT residents to head to the mountains.
