No "suspicious circumstances" after boy is found unconscious near Coatbridge train station

AN incident which saw a teenage boy found unconscious outside Coatbridge Sunnyside train station has been deemed "not suspicious" by police.

Cops raced to the scene on Gartsherrie Road during yesterday afternoon's rush hour amid reports from locals a "gang attacked a 13-year-old boy".

A massive cordon was put in place around the area which centres at Lamberton’s Engineering and the train station.

ScotRail was forced to stop services at the station as there was no access for passengers due to the police cordon.

The youngster was found unconscious and rushed to hospital where he is recovering.

Worried locals feared he had been attacked. However, after an investigation, officers have deemed the incident "not suspicious".

A police spokeswoman added: "At around 4.20pm on Tuesday, February 18, police received a report of a young man being found unconscious in Gartsherrie Road, Coatbridge.

"Emergency services attended. He was taken to hospital where he is recovering.

"The circumstances are not deemed suspicious."
