Ben White’s form for Leeds United has come as 'no surprise' to Brighton team-mate Glenn Murray, who believes the on-loan defender has led by example.
The 22-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions after making the temporary move to Elland Road during the summer, and has helped Leeds make a superb start to the season as they once again target promotion to the Premier League.
White’s emergence has come at the perfect time for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, following the departure of Pontus Jansson to Brentford during the summer.
And Brighton team-mate Murray believes the young defender has filled the Swede’s boots perfectly, and will prove to be a big asset during his season-long loan.
On White’s form, Murray told Sky Sports ahead of the 1-0 with Reading in which White claimed man-of-the-match honours: “It’s absolutely no surprise to me.
“Not long ago, I trained at Brighton and he would often step in front of me and I’m like ‘who is this kid?’
“He’s gone out, and he’s been fantastic at Leeds. He’s stepped into some big boots with Pontus Jansson leaving at the end of the season, and to step in there and lead by example at such a tender age.
“He’s not played many league games, and he’s agile, very, very composed on the ball, and I think that’s why Bielsa likes him, but we think a lot of him at Brighton.”
Leeds returned to the top of the table on Tuesday evening with another superb performance from White contributing to yet another clean sheet.
