KOCHI: Opposition leader V D Satheesan said that Congress has no role in Kitex deciding to set up its units outside the state. He added that no steps have been taken by the state government to pacify the company management to stay back in the state.
“During the stint of Oommen Chandy as the chief minister in 2012, there was a situation when Kitex had planned to migrate to Tamil Nadu. The then minister K Babu held talks with the Kitex management and settled the issue. But such a move was lacking on the part of the state government now,” Satheesan said.
It is related to Kadambrayar pollution that the Congress MLAs gave complaint. It is not known that the pollution control board has conducted any inspections in this regard so far.
It is with the knowledge of the CPM that all the inspections which were cited by Kitex were conducted, Satheesan said.
Kitex management had tried to defeat UDF candidates in the district in the last assembly elections. It is the differences of opinion between the CPM and Kitex management that led to the entire issues.
The issue can be resolved within a day if the government decides so, Satheesan said.
Satheesan said that he doesn’t need the advice from BJP leader K Surendran for taking on the Pinarayi government.
Surendran has lost even sleep due to the fear that he would be quizzed in connection with Kodakara road heist case. So, Surendran needn’t teach Congress leaders how to take on Vijayan, Satheesan said.
