'No sprinkles' - The hilarious Nottingham Forest cardboard cutout of Roy Keane that got fans talking

As they ran out at an empty City Ground, Nottingham Forest would have been in no doubt Reds fans remain right behind them in their push for promotion.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side played their first behind closed doors match on the banks of the Trent since the Championship’s restart, when they toppled Huddersfield Town 3-1 on Sunday.

But the club and supporters went out of their way to make sure it still felt like home.

That included more than 1,300 life-sized cardboard cutouts being placed in the stands.

And while the majority were Forest fans, ensuring they were at least inside the stadium in spirit, one or two famous faces also found their way amongst them.

One particular image which got people talking on social media was none other than former Reds midfielder and assistant manager Roy Keane.

Someone had paid for a picture of the Irishman holding an ice cream to go on one of the cutouts.

With the clash screened live on Sky Sports, it was quickly picked up and circulated on Twitter - observers taking great delight in a photo somewhat at odds with Keane’s hardman image.

Keane wasn’t the only ex-Forest player included.

Garry Birtles, Stuart Pearce and Stan Collymore were also spotted, while Julian Bennett revealed he had paid for a cutout.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, too, found their way into the ground - in cardboard form - along with children’s characters Where’s Wally and Buzz Lightyear.

The particular picture of Keane has previously been picked up by ex-England international Peter Crouch.

It was included in a gallery of people’s selfies with the Manchester United legend, which Crouch put together for his podcast.
