No Speroni, Dann not risked, Batshuayi starts - predicted Crystal Palace XI vs Bournemouth

Roy Hodgson has a defensive injury crisis on his hands ahead of Crystal Palace's final Premier League game of the season.

The Eagles welcome Bournemouth to Selhurst Park this afternoon and centre-back Scott Dann is doubtful for the clash after picking up a slight strain in training on Friday afternoon.

"Basically it's the same ones who have been injured for a long time now but we will have to assess Scott Dann tomorrow because he left training today feeling a slight strain so we will have to assess that," Hodgson told reporters at his pre-match press conference when asked for an injury update.

Every word Roy Hodgson has said about Bournemouth, Speroni, Puncheon, transfers and injuries

"I can't give an update on that.

"He's the only one that can possibly be added to the ones we've had for the last few weeks."

Presuming Hodgson doesn't take the risk with Dann for a game which has very little riding on it, he will be short of options to replace the 32-year-old.

Both Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins have been ruled out for the remainder of the season, thus leaving Martin Kelly as the only full fit senior central defender.

Cheikhou Kouyate has previously operated at the back for West Ham, as has Jairo Riedewald - who hasn't made a single Premier League appearance this season, so highly-rated youngster Sam Woods could get the nod.

The 20-year-old was named on the bench against Newcastle United last month, so at the very least could be involved in the mactchday squad once again.

Elsewhere, Hodgson indicated Julian Speroni will be denied a chance to start in goal on his farewell to the Palace supporters. Expect Joel Ward to start at left-back once again, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the opposite flank.

It was a 4-4-2 system against Cardiff City last weekend and that could mean a farewell appearance for loan duo Jordan Ayew and Michy Batshuayi in attack, meaning no Christian Benteke in the starting XI again.

Predicted Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Wan-Bissaka, Kelly, Woods, Ward; Townsend, Milivojevic, McArthur, Zaha; Ayew, Batshuayi
