The Government has agreed its ban on smoking, which will now allow non-food pubs to be exempt as well as clubs.
I can think of a few establishments that will suffer. There's a cigar bar restaurant in Victoria to which I was invited once. As a non-smoker I can't see myself going back, but at least at the moment it's my choice - the words "cigar" and "bar" in close proximity give me an idea of what to expect.
And at the moment they lead me to expect the demise of some of the uniqueness of a bar which appeared to be very popular indeed with its clientelle. I wonder how many other businesses will be hit by this healthy but draconian measure against people who aren't actually doing anything illegal?
