'No room' for Australia players getting pregnant says Sam Kerr as Covid-19 crisis leads to packed schedule

Chelsea and Australia striker Sam Kerr believes the coronavirus pandemic has put paid to any plans her national team-mates have to get pregnant in the next five years.

Kerr and her fellow Matildas are facing a crammed international calendar after the host of sporting delays caused by the Covid-19 lockdown.

A lengthy break next year has instead been eradicated by the year-delayed Olympics.

“This has put a real spanner in the works,” Kerr told Fox Sports. “I don’t know when I’ll be able to come home, I don’t know when I’ll get my next off-year.

“Next year’s Olympics, then Asian Cup, then World Cup, then Olympics again, So, the next off-year for the Matildas is five years away now, when [before] it was only one.

“There’s no room for injury now, which is stressful, there’s no room for time off, there’s no room for girls in our team getting pregnant now.

"I’m trying not to think too far ahead, because I kind of had my whole life planned out for the next year.”
