No progress for young Spurs striker who suffered 'internal bleeding' in thigh after freak injury

Tottenham Hotspur striker Kazaiah Sterling is showing no improvement after the freak injury which has kept him out for months on loan at Doncaster Rovers.

The 21-year-old has appeared in both the Champions League and FA Cup in previous seasons and was loaned out to Rovers in August, following a loan spell at Sunderland.

However, an innocuous dead leg picked up against Rotherham on September 7 in a League One clash is reported by the Doncaster Free Press as "suffering internal bleeding in his thigh with the impact of the injury".

Rovers boss Darren Moore gave an update on Sterling's injury and admitted it's doubtful Rovers will get him back.

"Incredibly, and we're waiting for some more inside information from a medical point of view, Kazaiah’s injury really hasn’t improved all that much with the results we had back from the scan," Moore said on Friday.

"He’s not really moved any further forwards. He hasn’t moved backwards but he hasn’t moved forward either.

"We’re trying to get the real medical prognosis on exactly what it is but you can understand with everything that is going on at Spurs, we’re probably one of the last people that are going to get any information out of them at the minute.

"It’s a shame for the boy really because we’ve always hung our hat on him in terms of having him back. At the moment, that doesn't look likely. The main thing for us is for him to get absolutely fit."

He added: "If he’s not able to come back, certainly over the next couple of weeks and be ready for the busy Christmas programme, then yes, we’d have to look at maybe replacing him when the window opens with an additional loan."
