No plastic bags from BMA hospitals from Monday

City Hall will end the use of plastic bags to hold medication dispensed to patients from Monday, as part of a move to end the overuse of plastic and styrofoam containers.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) posted a message on its Twitter account saying the dispensaries at all BMA-run hospitals will cease using plastic bags from Monday.

Patients are encouraged to take their own bags to hold any medicine prescribed for them to tke away when they go to the hospitals, it said.

The move is part of its campaign to reduce the use of plastic bags, foam and other plastic products destructive to the environment.
