No plan to screen Euro 2020 final in Nottingham's Old Market Square

Nottingham City Council bosses have reiterated there will be no special screening of the final of Euro 2020 in Old Market Square.

There seemed to be some confusion among some city pubs about whether there'd be an organised outdoor showing.

But a spokesman for Nottingham City Council confirmed there were no plans for any screenings in the city for when Gareth Southgate's side take on Italy on Sunday (July 11) at Wembley.

The game kicks off at 8am as the Three Lions seek their first ever tournament win.

A busy city road will be closed to all traffic on the evening.

For the World Cup in 2018, company Art of Football organised a fanzone at the plaza at Sneinton Market.

However, the company confirmed to Nottinghamshire Live it hadn't got any events planned for the final.

After the 2-1 semi-final win against Denmark on Wednesday (July 7), roars of delight could be heard in pubs across the city.

Hundreds of fans made their way into Market Square, where an impromptu DJ set was set up on top of a small bus.
