'No one is rich here', campaign launched to save much-loved Kazimier Garden

A huge campaign to save popular Liverpool bar Kazimier Garden has launched.

Bars and restaurants across the city are at risk during the current coronavirus outbreak, as government advice has discouraged people from attending social gatherings in such venues - though stopped short of banning it.

This means venues have had to make the difficult decision to close their doors to protect their customers and those that remain open are now struggling to stay that way.

Kazimier Garden on Seel Street has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support its staff during this trying time.

Announcing the campaign on Facebook, the team behind Kazimier Garden said “This city's hospitality industry, and our staff, are on the front line of this crisis. For those that can, we need your help and we've just launched a crowdfunder campaign

“Pay-it-forward by pre-purchasing some bar tabs, and other sweet rewards. Try and think of something better than a round of cool bevs once this bad business is finally done.

“We will never forget your support.”

On the official crowdfunder page, Kazimier Garden told the public why it ‘needs cash now’, saying that “no one is rich here” and that any support will be “felt immediately”.

The full statement read: “Morale boosting promises of support mean nothing to people who are close to the breadline.

“Our incredible staff, from event organiser, bar tenders, supervisors, security and musicians are in need now.

“Then we have a huge list of suppliers, fixed expenditures and running costs.

As directors, believe it or not, we operate a business where the profits are re-injected, no one is rich here. It is a lean business and our cash reserves are tiny.

“Your support will not be forgotten. It will be felt immediately.”

The bar is offering rewards to anyone who donates to the campaign, including bar tabs, the chance to be on the guestlist for a show at its exclusive music venue the Stockroom, private parties, a bench plaque and a beer brewed in your name.
