The deaths of a man and an unknown woman found floating chained together in a dam in Queensland's South Burnett region five days ago were not believed to be suspicious, police say.
The bodies of a man, identified as Darryl Smith, and a woman in her early 40s were found by a member of the public at the Gordonbrook Dam, about 250km northwest of Brisbane, on Saturday afternoon.
They had been in the dam for days as Mr Smith's white 2004 Holden Commodore station wagon with Queensland registration 306BS3 had been parked in the nearby picnic area since March 13.
Detectives had been keeping an open mind about the pair's deaths ahead of an autopsy, but after an examination they don't believe their deaths were suspicious.
"Post mortem results and extensive investigations indicate no other persons were involved in the deaths," police said in a statement on Wednesday
"Investigations are continuing and police will prepare a report for the Coroner."
The woman's identity is yet to be revealed and police haven't revealed whether the pair were a couple.
It is also unclear where the two had been staying at the time of their deaths, but Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker on Tuesday said a blow-up bed found near the car indicated they had been camping at the dam.
Police have released the last known photo of Mr Smith alive, taken at the Wondai Post Office on March 10, and called for anyone who saw him around or after that date to contact them.
