No one can agree which way man on swing is facing and it'll mess with your head

Remember the dress that divided the internet because some people thought it was white and gold, while others insisted it was black and blue?

The controversial clothing has now been replaced with a picturesque scene of a man in snowy surroundings as he enjoys himself on a swing - but it's equally infuriating.

A short clip originally appeared on TikTok before being shared to Twitter where it sparked a huge debate.

People are completely split as to whether the man is facing the camera recording the video or the building in the background of the shot.

Although one of the options may appear obvious at first, a few seconds of concentration (and some handy diagrams) allows your confused brain to switch between both possibilities.

Many employed the tactic of stubbornness in a bid to win the argument.

One replied: "Um... I don't see how this is a debate? It's very apparent that he's facing away from the camera. Not sure how this became a debate?"

Another argued: "He’s facing the camera. If he were facing the building and you look at the top pole it should be covered when he swings back, but it doesn’t which means the top pole is in front of him... aka he’s facing the camera. You’re welcome."

A third simply added: "A lot of you have never been on a swing before, and it really shows."

Others turned to cold, hard science.

And some just wanted to help us see it from both sides, and we thank you.

It was even argued about on BBC Breakfast, which to be honest was just a nice break from the 100 other things currently dividing the country.

Louise Minchin could only see the man swinging away, while her fellow presenter Naga Munchetty said she could only see him swinging forwards, nicely summing up the whole conundrum.

Unlike the dress, which was undeniably white and gold, we may never have an answer for the swinging man.
