No new COVID-19 cases - just a number change in the region's data

THERE have been no new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Hunter, despite NSW Health data showing a higher figure for the region's total number of cases.

There have been 278 cases of COVID-19 confirmed within Hunter New England, up from the 277 reported on Monday, according to the NSW Health website.

But Hunter New England Health confirmed there had been no new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the region in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday.

A spokesperson said the discrepancy was likely due to a "case review" of an ongoing investigation.

Currently, there are two COVID-19 patients receiving Hospital in the Home support, and 46 active cases within Hunter New England.

There have been more than 38,000 tests in the region, with 0.7 per cent returning positive results.

It comes as NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced there had been no new cases of COVID-19 in the state - the first time that had happened since February 29.

The total number in the state stayed steady at 3053.
