No new coronavirus deaths in Leeds hospitals as city placed on national watchlist

There have been no new coronavirus deaths recorded in Leeds hospitals in the past day despite a surge in newly diagnosed cases.

The death toll in Leeds' hospitals holds at 340, a day after the city was placed on Public Health England's national Covid-19 watchlist.

In England, a further eight people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died in hospitals.

This means that the total number of confirmed reported deaths in the country has risen to 29,604.

Patients, who were aged between 56 and 94 years old, all had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.

The dates of death range from 31 August to 4 September 2020, with the majority on or after 3 September.

Thie latest figures come as infection rates continue to rise in the city and researchers have predicted that Bradford and Leeds have a greater than 70 per cent chance of becoming coronavirus hotspots within the next two weeks.
