No new coronavirus deaths in Leeds as parts of West Yorkshire go back into lockdown

No new coronavirus deaths have been recorded in either Leeds or other parts of Yorkshire over the past 24 hours, as parts of the county get used to the new, stricter lockdown restrictions.

A further four people who tested positive for coronavirus have been reported to have died in NHS trusts in England, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in the country to 29,342.

The patients were aged between 78 and 84 years old and all had known underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed.

None of the newly recorded deaths happened in the North West or in Yorkshire, where new lockdown restrictions were imposed on Friday by the government to try and control an increase of cases in the areas.

Today's news means that it has now been 17 days since someone died after testing positive for the virus in Leeds.

This means the total number of coronavirus deaths in Yorkshire hospitals remains at 2,568 and the current death toll in Leeds stands at 338.

Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees are affected by the newly restricted lockdown rules, as are large parts of Greater Manchester - including Trafford and Stockport - and parts of Lancashire.
