'No more than he deserves' Neil Warnock reacts to Leeds United's Norman Hunter tribute

Neil Warnock has praised Leeds United's decision to rename the south stand in honour of Norman Hunter, describing the move as "no more than he deserves."

Hunter passed away last week after a short battle with coronavirus.

In the days since his death, some of football's most popular figures past and present have paid tribute in their numbers.

And today, Leeds themselves announced that the south stand at Elland Road, the stand that directly faces the Don Revie stand, will be renamed 'The Norman Hunter south stand'.

“It’s no more than he deserves,” said Warnock, as he paid tribute on talkSPORT.

“It is horrendous when your life comes to an end under circumstances like coronavirus.

“It just shows, we have got to adhere to what the government are saying," he urged.

In recent days stars at Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have both come under fire to failing to cooperate with social distancing rules.

David Luiz, Alexandre Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe and Granit Xhaka have all had a telling off by the Gunners.

Xhaka and Luiz met up to train at a park in London earlier this week, Pepe posted a clip on social media of himself playing football with friends and Lacazette was photographed talking to a car valeter on his driveway.

“The Arsenal lads, there is no need to seek that kind of publicity," fumed Warnock as he slammed their actions.

“They’ve got to be responsible. This is life and death. I don’t think they realise that, do they?

“It is everywhere and you just have to be so careful.”
