No more room for BJP rebels, but Gorakhpur MLA Radha Mohan Das Agarwal welcome: SP chief Akhilesh Yadav

LUCKNOW: After relentlessly targeting BJP, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav targeted Congress on Saturday, accusing the grand old party of hatching conspiracies to make sure that SP would be unable to form government in UP.

On the possibility of inducting fresh BJP rebels into SP, Akhilesh said he would not take any new faces, except sitting BJP MLA Radha Mohan Das Agarwal who has been replaced by chief minister Yogi Adityanath as the BJP candidate from Gorakhpur Urban, if Agarwal made an overture.

Reacting to Yogi's candidature from Gorakhpur Urban, Akhilesh said BJP has already sent the CM home. "First Mathura, then Ayodhya, and now, finally, Gorakhpur. People would have anyway sent him back to Gorakhpur after the elections and had got his ticket reserved. But the party has sent him already. I congratulate him (CM)," he said at a press conference on Saturday.

Responding to a question on SP adopting a soft approach towards Congress, Akhilesh said the party was nowhere in the race for the 2022 Assembly polls. On reports that SP might not field a candidate against the Congress nominee who is the mother of the rape survivor (in the Kuldeep Sengar case), Akhilesh said such messages were originating from "WhatsApp universities" and should not be relied upon as of now.
