No more queues: Kuwait launches online passport update service for expatriates

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has launched a new electronic service allowing expatriates to update their passport details digitally through the government’s unified Sahel application, without requiring visits to service centres.

The service has been introduced by the General Department of Information Systems in cooperation with the General Department of Residence Affairs at the Ministry of Interior. It enables residents to update passport information electronically, ensuring official records remain accurate without requiring physical paperwork or appointments.

According to the ministry, the move is aimed at simplifying procedures for the public while reducing pressure on service centres. Expatriates can now complete passport data updates easily through the Sahel platform, making the process faster and more accessible.

Officials said the service forms part of wider efforts to enhance digital government services and streamline administrative processes. By expanding online services, the ministry aims to improve efficiency and deliver a smoother experience for residents using government platforms.
