No more 'free' trips with parent taxi app that lets drivers exchange lifts for chores

Parents across the country will be ferrying children around during the extended summer holidays like a glorified taxi service.

But there's a chance for drivers to finally get something back in return now that Skoda has launched a new app, called 'Parent Taxi.'

The app acts like a real taximeter and allows parents to exchange lifts of chores, MirrorOnline reports.

The Skoda app tracks the car journey via GPS, and parents can set how many miles equate to different chores, including cleaning the car, doing the washing up or feeding the family pet.

Once a journey has been completed, the app totals the miles travelled, and reveals which chore the child must do.

Jo Middleton, a ‘mummy blogger’ based in Taunton, tested the app with the help of her teenage daughter, Belle.

She said: “This is the app I’ve been waiting for! It’s true that kids generally have a better social life than adults and as result that can mean a lot of car journeys each week.

“Although I love encouraging them to get out and do more, I think it’s a great idea to swap miles for some help around the house in return.”

Other key features include the ability to view past journeys and chores, create a bespoke chore receipt, and track the total amount of journeys.

The app is free to download now from the App Store and Google Play Store.
